group' gen"itive




(in English) a construction in which the genitive ending 's is added to an entire phrase, esp. when added to a word other than the head of the noun phrase, as the woman who lives across the street's in That is the woman who lives across the street's cat or the people next-door's in The people next-door's house is for rent. Also called group' posses"sive.
