Pronunciation: (ket'l-drum"), [key]
n.
a drum consisting of a hollow hemisphere of brass, copper, or fiberglass over which is stretched a skin, the tension of which can be modified by hand screws or foot pedals to vary the pitch. Cf. timpani.
