tu'lip tree"




a tall tree, Liriodendron tulipifera, of the magnolia family, native to the eastern U.S., having large, cup-shaped, green and orange flowers: the state tree of Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee. Also called tu'lip pop"lar, yellow poplar.
