Often, Epsom salts. Chem., Pharm.hydrated magnesium sulfate, MgSO4·7H2O, occurring as small colorless crystals: used in fertilizers, the dyeing of fabrics, leather tanning, etc., and in medicine chiefly as a cathartic.
