Pronunciation: (pru-mē'thē-u), [key]
a silkworm moth, Callosamia promethea, having reddish-brown wings, each with a border of white or yellow, the larvae of which feed on spicebush and other lauraceous plants. Also called spicebush silk moth. See illus. under moth.
